Welcome to my photo galleries. I hope you find that some of these photos resonate with the profound thoughts of Rachel Carson, "The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction."
There's a lot of excitement building for the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8th. As it happens my house is well placed in the path of totality, although we're not optimistic about the weather here in Indiana. Nevertheless I will be preparing to watch and photograph this rare and spectacular event. If you're also interested in photographing it, I've assembled some resources and tips on photographing a solar eclipse.
The latest blog post highlights one of Ansel Adams's best-known photographs and compares it with one of my attempts from the same location.
There are also a few instructional slides based on topics presented to groups such as the Bloomington Photography Club.
Please feel free to leave a comment or ask questions, or even purchase a print for your very own wall!
I've also included some of the spectacular images from the Hubble Space Telescope. I was responsible for producing many of these photos before I retired from the Space Telescope Science Institute.
