While in New Mexico for a few days I was able to capture a few deep sky objects, though the weather didn't permit as much as I'd hoped. This perennial favorite in the constellation Orion is known popularly as the Horsehead Nebula, more formally as Barnard 33 or IC 434. Though relatively bright with emission from mostly hydrogen gas (reddish areas) and reflection of starlight from interstellar dust (bluish areas), being able to capture the image from the dark skies in southwest New Mexico was beneficial.
